Your Facial Fat Transfer Options

We offer two types of fat transfer at Réviance Plastic Surgery: one targeting aesthetic enhancement and the other aimed at harnessing your body’s natural regenerative properties.

• Microfat transfer: In this procedure, we collect your own fat from a donor site on your body (usually the abdomen) using BeautiFill laser-assisted liposuction. This device purifies the fat at the point of collection, yielding greater quantities and quality of fat than in older methods. This purified fat is then injected into the face, hands, or other areas to restore volume and add soft, natural support to sagging, lax skin.

Am I a Good Candidate for Facial Fat Transfer?

Patients should be nonsmokers and in good overall health, with sufficient surplus body fat for the fat transfer procedure. If you are naturally very thin or have previously undergone a tummy tuck or liposuction, you may not have enough quality fat to be eligible for this procedure. In such cases, dermal fillers may be the more appropriate alternative.

What To Expect During Your Facial Fat Transfer

Dr. Chan uses BeautiFill laser-assisted liposuction to gently harvest fat from the donor site. This device yields a high viability rate for the collected fat, which is crucial to the operation’s overall success.

BeautiFill’s specially designed canister filters the blood, oil, and other impurities as the fat is suctioned out, so it is immediately ready for transfer. As we don’t have to refine the fat in a centrifuge (adding extra time and complexity to the process), our procedure is significantly quicker with a higher percentage of pure fat.

Dr. Chan carefully injects the fat to add subtle, natural volume. The most common treatment areas include:

The fat may take 6 to 12 months to fully stabilize in its new location. It is normal for the body to reabsorb a portion of the fat, but in most cases, high-quality fat takes hold in its desired place.
